There was a time when I mistook attention for affection. If someone looked my way, showed the slightest interest, or gave me even a moment of their energy, I clung to the possibility of connection. I didn’t realise then that a glance (or a “like” or “match” in dating lingo”) could mean many things—and often, it meant very little at all.

Back then, my younger self didn’t know the difference between being seen and feeling seen. I hadn’t yet discovered that attraction is not the same as connection. And so, I attracted people who noticed me—but who had no real intention of truly knowing me. You can imagine the heartbreak that followed.

Reading Keeping the Love You Find by Drs. Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt changed everything. It gave language to my longing to be deeply understood and connect. It helped me see how my attraction to those who simply acknowledged me echoed my earliest relational experiences. I wasn’t drawn to people because I truly liked them—I was drawn to being liked.

Then, I heard Charlize Theron say something that struck a chord: as an upcoming actress new to Hollywood, she had spent so much time wondering if others liked her, she never stopped to ask if she liked them. That single insight shifted my world. I began to look inward, to become more discerning about the kind of energy I invited into my life. I started to explore what it meant to consciously choose—and be chosen in return.

What I uncovered was my blueprint for love—a set of unconscious relational patterns that had been quietly shaping my choices all along. Bringing this blueprint into the light was a gift. It gave me the power to pause, reflect, and choose differently.

So inspired was I by this transformation that I became a certified Imago therapist and workshop presenter. Today, I offer the Keeping the Love You Find workshop for singles—a two-day, immersive experience grounded in the very principles that changed my life.
